Wikis can be used in a variety of settings. The most common reason to use a wiki is for students to contribute to a collaborative set of informational webpages, like wikipedia. Students can add images, text, and additional pages, to generally contribute and share knowledge.
An additional use for wikis is for collaborative assignments. Students can use the wiki function to work together, upload files, and contribute different information on a project, perfecting it until it’s ready to turn in. Grades aren’t available for wikis, so if a grade is needed on the assignment, you can use the group assignment function after facilitating the group work in the wiki environment.
