Feedback: Settings

Below the video are step by step instructions walking through the settings for a feedback activity

To add a feedback activity (custom survey):

  1. After logging in to VSTAR home, click the Learn tab to display courses.
  2. Select the course you wish to add your feed back activity.
  3. With the editing turned on, in the section you wish to add your feedback activity, click the Add an activity or resource link and choose Feedback () from the popup menu.
  4. This will take you to the Feedback settings page titled “Adding a new Feedback”.

In an existing Feedback, the following settings can be found in Settings > Feedback administration > Edit settings.

On the “Adding a new Feedback” page, you will be presented with many options and settings. They will fall into five groups: General, Timing, Feedback options, After submitting, and Common module settings. Lets discuss each section and its particular options.

Adding New Feed Back General

Availability

If you need users to submit a feedback form multiple times:

Note:  If you want users to submit the same feedback form multiple times, you need to be aware of how results will be displayed:

  • If you choose “Anonymous” under “Feedback options,” then you will be able to see each separate form submitted by users — in this case, if you need to know each user’s identity, you will have to include it as an item within the feedback form (since the submission will be anonymous).
  • If you choose not to anonymize the feedback form, then each time a user submits the same form, it will overwrite the results from the last time he or she submitted the form.

A note about email notifications:

It is recommended that you choose “no” for the setting “Send email notifications” in order to avoid participants receiving unwanted emails.  Instead, you can check to see who has submitted the feedback form by navigating to the feedback item in your course and accessing the form data by using the feedback tabs at the top of the page.  The tabs look like this:

Please note that we haven’t actually entered any of the specific feedback questions yet.  That is done on the next page (and covered in the Tip Sheet called “Feedback: Questions“).
