Accessing Eskind Digital Library Resources

When you are on campus and connected to one of the Vanderbilt Medical Center wireless networks, you will automatically have access to these resources. However, you may find yourself needing access to these resources when you are off campus.

The easiest way to access a restricted resource when off campus is to use a bookmarklet. Once you are on the webpage that is restricted, simply click on / select the bookmarklet and login when prompted with your Vanderbilt VUnetID and password. Below are directions to setup the bookmarklet for a variety of devices.

Windows/Mac

  1. Drag the bookmark below to your bookmarks toolbar.

Login with Vanderbilt

  1. Bookmark this page and save it to whatever folder/location is best for your needs.
  2. Edit the bookmark and in the URL field, change it to the text in italics below:

iPhone / iPad / iPod Touch

  1. Bookmark this page. If you are using Safari, tap the Share (middle) button in the bottom toolbar, then tap Add Bookmark, then tap Save.
  2. Select the text in italics here and copy it:   javascript:void(location.href='https://login.proxy.library.vanderbilt.edu/login?qurl='+location.href)
  3. Edit the bookmark you created in Step 1.
    • Tap the Bookmarks button on the bottom toolbar.
    • Tap Edit. Select the “Login via Vanderbilt” bookmark.
    • Tap the URL, then the “x” to clear it. Tap-and-hold in the box, then tap Paste.
    • Save the changes by tapping Done.

Android

  1. Bookmark this page. (If you are unsure how to do this, please use Google to find instructions for your specific browser.)
  2. Select the text in italics here and copy it:  javascript:void(location.href='https://login.proxy.library.vanderbilt.edu/login?qurl='+location.href)
  3. Edit the bookmark you created in Step 1. Clear the URL saved with the bookmark and paste in the text you copied in Step 2. Save the changes to the bookmark.
