What is Outcomes Database?

An Internet Based application used to compile/export data gathered from many data sources such as University Registrar office, Trainee Database, Online grading, VUMC Faculty Database including the OTLM Classroom Management database. It also allows users to export the information to excel spreadsheet used in the SPSS or other programs for a higher statistics procedure.

Objectives

Outcomes database categorizes the area of interest to 3 main groups with their own objectives

  • Student Performance Level (AKA Learner Outcomes)
    • Track and manage individual student learning to assure that each has achieved all benchmarks set by the medical school
    • Track, summarize, report  student performance within/among courses
    • Support R&D on educational methods
    • Track, summarize, report and compare medical school outcomes for PDSA/CQI processes
    • Support R&D on educational methods
    • Portfolio/Dashboard of learning activities not otherwise formally evaluated in the medical school curriculum
    • Support R&D on educational method
  • Course Level (AKA Course Evaluation)
    • Display matrix of course level and ACGME core competencies
  • Curriculum Level (AKA Program Evaluation)
    • Facilitate preparation of LCME and other accreditation reports

 

Outcome Report

Outcomes database collects and compiles the data collected from difference data sources and presents it according to the following area of interest

  • Student Performance Level
    • Student’s grade, summative/formative comments in the school of medicine evaluation form based on the ACGME Core Competencies
    • Display Matrix of Grade Distribution VS. ACGME Core Competencies
    • Graph Display: Comparison of USMLE STEP Score Mean, % Passing and Annual Summary report between VUMS and National (Other US & Canadian Medical Schools)
    • Graph Display: Comparison of NBME Clinical Sciences Score Mean and Annual Summary report between VUMS and National (Other US & Canadian Medical Schools)
    • Residency Match Data
    • Graph Distribution of student performance in all courses/academic year compared to his/her peers.
    • Individual USMLE STEP Scores and NBME Scores (Clinical Sciences)
