1. Visit http://vstarcompass.com or https://vstar.mc.vanderbilt.edu/portfolio/app/mobile on your phone, laptop, or tablet.

2. Log in with your VUnetID and ePassword.

3.  You will see any activities that you have been assigned and that are available for you to send out here.

4. Click the activity that you wish to use.

5. You are taken to a new screen with “Request Feedback” or “Type Feedback.”  In most cases, choose “Request Feedback.”

6. When you click “Request Feedback,” you will have three options for choosing someone to get feedback from.

a. Choose “Select from Advisor List” to get the names of the Course Directors and Facilitators.

b.  If you want to use another Vanderbilt clinician, choose “Search Vanderbilt Directory.”

c. To choose a patient, someone at the VA or outside of Vanderbilt, choose “Add Email IDs”

7.  Locate or input the individual you want to provide assessment on your performance.  If imputing an email address, be sure to verify it’s accuracy with the patient or clinician.

8.  After you select the individual, the next page will ask the date you worked with that person.  You can input a single day, or if you worked with them on more than one day, you can input the last day you worked with them as well.  Once you have selected this, you should select the “Request Feedback” button at the bottom of the screen.

9. It’s also a good idea to let this person know that you are requesting feedback from them.  If you’re requesting feedback from a patient, request verbal permission from the patient before requesting feedback through Compass.

10.  Compass will pop up a message that says “Your request has been sent successfully.” If you do not see this message, start this process again.

11.  The assessor will get an email that looks like this:

12.  The asessor will be able to click the link in the email to fill out the assessment online.

13.  When you receive feedback, it will appear in Compass, as well as in VSTAR Portfolio.
