Using Discussion within a Discussion Enabled VSTAR Portfolio Activity

Using Discussion within a discussion enabled VSTAR Portfolio Activity

Sometimes as an advisor, or coach, you may want to provide directed comments on particular feedback, or self-assessments that are in a student’s feedback. Usually this would be done within an activity where you are an advisor. It is important to note that not all activities are setup with the discussion feature enabled.

If you open an activity where you are an advisor you will be presented with rows where the student name is at the far left, and then the assessment form is listed, followed by the status, the date last updated, faculty or advisor notes, and finally two icons (if available) for either emailing the student or entering a discussion with the student.

You can also access the response directly by clicking on the form link directly to the right of the student name.

To start a discussion just start typing where it says “Join the discussion.”  The text you enter will show up below the text entry box.  The student and other advisors will be notified of your entry.
